recherche graines d'Arisaema
« on: October 04, 2024, 07:18:27 AM »
After a few successful sowings of Arisaema, I want to expand my collection and sow many other species of this genus that I particularly like.

I'm already relying heavily on the spring srgc exchange... so donors, don't forget to send in your Arisaema seeds!

but i'd also like to find fresh seeds of species that can't stand dry storage, such as sikokianum, nepenthoides, griffithii, propinquum...

in short, I'm looking for a bit of everything except tortuosum, ciliatum, flavum, although there is apparently a very large form of Flavum (90cm) that I think is very hard to find.

Researching on the internet, it seems that these species do not tolerate dry storage either:

- Arisaema elephas
- Arisaema wattii
- Arisaema speciosum
- Arisaema wilsonii

I guess it's too late in the season to find fresh seed this year.

However, if anyone has managed to sow seeds of Arisaema sikokianum, nepenthoides, griffithii, propinquum, elephas, wattii, speciosum or wilsonii that have been stored dry for a few months...
I would like to know... to dare to buy them somewhere...
or order them from exchanges: I don't receive the seeds until mid-March at the earliest.

I have sown Sikokianum from society seed distributions and had a small number germinate, but rather few.

Hello Véronique,
Seed of A. propinquum, from the exchange I think, germinated quite well for me about 10 years ago, without any special conditions.
Unfortunately, just saying so doesn't help you apart from confirming that dry seed may remain viable, at least for a few months.

Well, I find it encouraging all the same, Ashley.
especially as I've made progress in sowing this type since my unsuccessful attempts. so I'll try again. :)
