Ozgur, both are stunning, a Juno and an Onco.  Is the season normally this early for flowers at 1200m?  How close are you to these wild areas to see such beautiful species blooming?  Still frozen solid and lots of snow on the ground here.

It is normal for stenophylla. Last year I saw them in same days and same places. In higher altitude it also blooms in the snow like galanthus.

Superb pictures Ozgur and much appreciated, thanks a lot.  Especially the picture of Iris sprengeri is great - did you also make any pictures of its habitat?
I have been told it grows at slopes with loose soil (of volcanic origin?) - your pictures indicate they grow in heavy loam or maybe loess, so an additional pic (or info) of the area would be very intersting.

Özgür,  Wonderful Iris pictures, thank you!
I have moved them here to the Turkish Iris thread, since they are all in different sections.
I thought it better to keep your Iris pictures together here. 8)

I found it in a very plain site. this site was using for sheep feeding (pasture) There is no hill or slopes. The soil is so heavy (include so much clay) And its origin is limestones.

Ozgur  beautiful pictures of the irises.I have only found them in seed and had to imagine what they looked like in flower.

I found the Iris sprengeri about 70kms south of Kayseri. It was growing at the base of a small hill and the soil seemed like almost pure volcanic sand. The soil was so hot it burnt my fingers as I let it run through them and the rhizomes were about 10cms down and totally dry in May.

A local farmer was digging up the area and spreading the soil on his fields so I do not know if it is still there.

Wow, all of your links show beautiful photographs, you have an artistic eye... the butterfly photographs are amazing. By the way, to the forumists out there, check out Ozgur's first web page link: then scroll down and look at the photos of Onosma albo-roseum (beautiful form) and in particular, Onosma nanum!!! Every time I try growing Onosma nanum, they result in various yellow-flowered imposters, never the stunning blue dwarf plant that it is supposed to be... great to see the real plant!
