Cyril Lafong won yet another Forrest Medal wth a superb Daphne. He also received a merit certificate for his entry in a class for rare plants

Stella & David Rankin won the Crawford trophy for most points in the open section, Class A for 6 small pans, Class 1 6 larger pans and the Buchanan rosebowl an entry which also included the Joan Stead prize for the best primula, class 2 the Archibald rose bowl for 3 plants from different genera, class 3 the Buchanan challenge cup for 3 new or rare plants

Alison Ward won the Ian Donald trophy for best Scottish native plant with Scilla verna , Peter Semple won the Simpson trophy for best orchid, John di Paolo won the75th jubilee prize for a small pot as well as a merit certificate for a very floriferous Saxifraga Snowcap

Your correspondent retained the Darling trophy for class 4 3 dwarf rhododendrons one of which won the trophy for best rhodo in the show, also the Urie trophy for best other ericaceous with an Andromeda in a 6 pan entry in class 1 and the Don Stead prize for most points across all the bulb classes. Thanks Stan for that excellent photo record, and to the rest of the team and nurseries for coming and especially those who were exhibiting plants. There may be fewer folks attending shows this year, but the Club and its volunteers are still here putting on these events, and we look forward to welcoming more members of the SRGC and of the public next year.
