more precise determination

(1/1)

Véronique Macrelle:
I update a labeling and if I go to source the seeds I have the choice between
 -Arisaema flavum CC6303
- and Arisaema flavum ssp. abbreviatum CC6300
both native to India, more specifically Himachal Pradesh at an altitude of 2400m.

how do you tell the difference between flavum and flavum ssp.abbreviatum?

the tubers of this Arisaema flavum don't grow much larger than 2 cm in diameter:
here's a photo of my flavum, which of the 2 is it?

Vinny 123:
Abbreviatum is (or at least was), by far the commonest in cultivation.
It is short - the smallest form, and can be tiny.
The photo's appear to be this ssp. - the extended spathe tip and it being bent over almost hiding the spadix, would indicate abbreviatum.

Véronique Macrelle:
thank :)
