Root aphids again.
« on: April 08, 2023, 05:39:58 PM »
According to to the Website of a supplier of Auriculas, root aphids may be removed by bare rooting the plants and bathing them in a horticultural soft soap solution. So has anyone done this and did it work?

My apologies to any organic gardeners who may be offended!  A nicotine based systemic insecticide will work quickly and effectively without disturbing the plant.
Fipronil, used to treat fleas on cats, sprayed on the under-sides of the lower leaves should also work.

I am in USDA zone 8b where temperatures almost never fall below 15F -9.4C.  Rainfall 50" 110 cm + but none  June-September.  We seldom get snow; but when it comes we get 30" overnight. Soil is sandy loam with a lot of humus.
