Partner loaded mainly foliage /autumn but a few gentians somewhere in the middle. Even putting a couple of pots in the passenger space couldn't get everything in. Growing outside means too many plants.

Great load, Stan - good luck!!

This Eastern Australian orchid, Pterostylis coccina, has won the Forrest Medal for the best plant in show at Hexham today, grown/shown by Bob and Rannveig Wallis. SRGC rules applied this year at this joint Show.

Another view of Bob & Rannveig's well deserved Forrest plant. The Millenium trophy for best foliage plant was Cyclamen mirabile from Don Peace. The best cyclamen in a small pot taking the Ewesley salver was shown by Derek Pickard. The Patricia Furness vase for the best small pot other than cyclamen went to David Millward for Crocus xantholimos. John Richards took the LW Browne trophy for best gentian with The Caley.

The David Boyd award for class 74 an African plant went to Ian Instone. Two merit certs went to a pair of Raoulias shown by Alan Furness . Vivien Self won the Inner Eye for most firsts in section 2(intermediate) while Michael Wilson took the Newcastle trophy for best plant in section 2. Finally I received the Ponteland bowl for most firsts by bringing most plants many of them foliage but with a few gentians and saxes

At 3.30 pm local group members dismantled the show with impressive efficiency. They tell me there were 284 plants in the Open section with 11 in section 2 but none in section 3, the only disappointing aspect of a very enjoyable day.

Tremendous set of photos of the show, Stan - thank you! What can we do to encourage entries in Sections 2 and 3, that's the question!!
-
Stan,
Incredible,so many beautiful plants. Thank you so much
for your good work with these fine pictures
-
One photo that Stan was unable to post was of himself, with his Ponteland Bowl trophy for the highest points aggregate in the Open Section along with some of his foliage plants.
-
Thanks Peter
