OOoops.. I was going to mention this but somehow it got left out. The rock is sandstone from the Forest of Dean. It is from the same quarry that Pershore used for their crevice garden - having worked with Pershore they were familiar with the kind of thing we wanted. I'll say more about it in my next log

Hi Paul,
we'll  be at Wisley for the pre-conference tour next April! I'll be looking forward to checking out the new Crevice Garden (and loads more - we're actually getting there the day before the tour so we can have a good look 'round) - hopefully we'll be able to see you then.
cheers
fermi

Hi Fermi,
I will be at Wisley on the 10 April when both the tours converge at Wisley, and I will take you all on a tour behind the scenes as well as in the Alpine House etc. I'm looking forward to seeing you all then

Paul

It is so exciting that Wisley is to join the list of important gardens to have a crevice project worked on by Zdenek Zvolanek.

Quite apart from the great planting area which will be provided to give a lot of plants a perfect home, there will be the prospect of this new garden area to be enjoyed by the myriad of Wisley visitors, not only next year at Conference time (for we must not be selfish!!), but for many years to come!

Last, and by no means least, there is the fantastic opportunity for Staff and Students to work alongside ZZ in the creation of this project...... talk about a win-win situation!

It will be tremendously interesting to see both the progress and the finished garden for all of those many thousands of people reading Paul's Wisley Blog and surely a great boon to Wisley to have so much publicity for the project.

All we need now is to hope for good weather during the construction, for the sake of the workers..... ;D
