Fresh, Moist-Packed Seed of Uvularia
« on: October 21, 2007, 09:26:02 PM »
Hi All,
I have (commercial) quantities of both of these native North American woodland gems:

Uvularia grandiflora and
U. sessilifolia

Have been moist packed since collection to preserve viability.

If no-one requests them--is there someway that the SRGC seed exchange is set up to deal with ephemeral seed, and am I too late to donate, and do I have to be a member to donate?

Kristl, we do not often have non-members generous enough to donate seed! I am sure your contribution would be gratefully received though I am unsure as to the current facility we have for such ephemeral seed...an email to
Stuart Pawley should tell you his opinion... mail Stuart Pawley at : gsp.srgc@tesco.net
I'll phone Stuart tomorrow... Maggi

This for info:

Donating Seed 2007

If members have seed they would like to donate, please send it, individually packaged per variety and cleaned of all seed cases, insects, etc, with your name and address  to:-

Prof. Stuart Pawley,
Acres of Keillour,
Methven,
Perth.
Scotland, U.K.
PH1 3RA.

Don't be put off if you only have a small amount - it may be the small amount that no-one else has. The bonus of being a seed donor is that you get the Seed List sent to you automatically (All Overseas members will also automatically get the Seed List, but UK non-donors will have to apply to Prof. Pawley for a copy, an A5 size stamped and addressed envelope please), you get 25 packets free (only 16 if you are a non-donor) - and the Donors are given priority in the Seed Distribution.

Please note that the deadline for receiving seed by Stuart Pawley is normally 31st October, although if you have any "late maturing" seed that cannot be sent before that deadline, please send the information about this seed before 31st October, the seed can follow later.

Trillium erectum
T. undulatum
Asarum canadense
Sanguinaria canadensis

they go to the SRGC seed exchange...

Kristl,
I'm interested ! I just had to check our quarantine restrictions.
The U. grandiflora is allowed into the country though the other isn't and U. sessiliflorum is prohibited! So, go figure!
Please e-mail or send me a personal message to discuss the details! I'm about to leave the computer though, so won't be able to reply till tomorrow!
cheers

Sorry, Fermi the package left for Scotland last night. Only thing remaining is the Trillium erectum (of which I had way too much to send to the SRGC seed echange)...I'll probably post the same message about this time next year.

It is a mystery why the U. sessilifolia is not allowed--such a demure little thing...one wishes it were a thug!
