Lyn and Ron Bezzant with Anne Leven at the Glasgow SRGC Show, 2009.
Lyn Bezzant, long term SRGC stalwart and former Secretary of the RHS Joint Rock Garden Committee for Scottish Rock Garden Club has died. Lyn and her late husband Ron (who incidentally, was the first person to make a comprehensive list of Joint Rock Awards) were ever-present at SRGC events for many years and had a charming garden at their home by the Lake of Menteith, growing a wide range of difficult and unusual plants. The two of them were Show Secretaries at Glasgow for many years.

Asked how she divided the lovely
Rhodothamnus chamaecistus, Lyn replied that she cut it up every few years with an old bread knife! The delightful
Crocus tommasinianus 'Lyn's Pink', had its origin with her. Many people benefitted from Lyn's skill and generosity over the years.
Lyn was awarded the Salver in 2000. Lyn suffered ill health for a long time and was greatly assisted in keeping up her SRGC appearances by the efforts of Ron - and her trusty electric scooter. One of Ron's hobbies was flying, so I suppose he found the organisation of the motorised scooter to be pretty straightforward.
Lyn continued to live alone after Ron's death in 2019, but fairly recently moved to England to be nearer family - she passed away in a Manchester hospital on 19th August.
We will miss Lyn dearly. We send our fondest condolences to her children at this sad time.Lyn’s funeral will be at Stirling crematorium, Falkirk road, Bannockburn, Stirling, FK7 8AJ at 2pm on Friday 2nd of September.https://www.funeralguide.co.uk/crematoriums/stirlingshire-crematorium [ Guests cannot view attachments ] [ Guests cannot view attachments ]
