A jewel cushion plant from America - Kelseya uniflora
« on: June 09, 2020, 05:46:19 PM »
Stunning photos of the wonderful Kelseya uniflora in habitat in North Central Wyoming. Pictures taken recently by the director of the South Carolina Botanical Garden, Patrick McMillan.

"Kelseya uniflora! Thank you Panayoti Kelaidis for the ID! I would not have thought this was related to Spiraea. This thing is very woody, ancient clumps growing out of limestone in alpine dolomite barren in north-central Wyoming. One of the coolest plants I’ve seen. A plant dislodged and dried by winter shows the woody nature."

some  more  Kelseya shots ..... this fabulous cushion plant  is  rarely  seen in cultivation - and  even less frequently  seen as beautiful as  these  wild  specimens

Great to see such wonderful photos of this spectacular plant growing in the wild.

Would like to locate any plants for sale in UK as my last one gave up the ghost in 2013.

Maggi...

Really a nice title for this beautiful plant...it is a jewel.

I admire this phenomenal plant every time I visit the Alpine House  of Gerd Stopp (photo from March).

A little insider tip...Gerd has this species in the current sowing...  so watch the next lists...;-)
