Saxifraga from cuttings
« on: April 03, 2019, 02:19:17 PM »
Having just noticed Jan Tholhuijsen's post on Facebook showing all the Saxifraga cuttings he has taken I just wondered if anyone has any advice on how and when to start doing this?

Any advice at all would be most welcome.

Best advice I've had is from a Saxifrage Society pamphlet written by Malcolm McGregor entitled 'Saxifrages from Scratch'. Have a look at the Sax Soc web site for details of how to obtain it. For Porphyrion types he recommends just after the plants have flowered, although you can get lucky with cuttings  taken in summer, early autumn and late autumn.
