"Super great weekend together with over a hundred plant-enthusiasts from Scottish Rock Garden Club. Fun and exciting to keep lectures in English for the first time.  :)  "

From Christine Boulby -  "Our SRGC Discussion Weekend included a tour of Dawyck Garden near Peebles. Clothed in autumn colour, the trees we saw were captivating and our guide, who walked backwards so we would all hear him, was amongst the most enthusiastic and knowledgeable guides I have ever listened to. If you get a chance to visit this outpost of Royal Botanic Garden Edinburgh do go!"

Sandy Leven's report on the DWE show is now online here :

It's great to see a "new" face there  helping at the show - someone I have yet to meet face to face - this smiley soul is   Petra Palkova, an active member of the Edinburgh Group, who works in the Alpine Dept. of the Royal Botanic Garden, Edinburgh

Those of you who were at Peebles in 2016 will surely remember John Massey's superb talk which was entitled 'Hellebores'or so I remember, but covered very much more and provided a laugh at the end of every line. You may remember too that John was accompanied by his young Head Gardener, Adam Greathead. I was just looking through Ashwood Nurseries Web Site earlier this evening when I found out that Adam recently died in his sleep at aged 28, very sad indeed. I was chatting to Adam over a cup of tea after John's talk and remember Adam saying that working with John was like going to Heaven. RIP Adam.

Adam's death was a terrible shock to all who knew and admired this talented young man.  He and John Massey would have achieved even greater things with John's garden in coming years - and Adam's work with other hort. clubs and charity work are also well worth a mention.  Condolences were sent Adam's Mum and Dad and to John.

Adam's funeral will be on Thursday, November 30th from 11am at Our Lady and All Saints Catholic Church, New Road, Stourbridge DY8 1PQ.
