"This groups association with Jim Archibald is well known.
Jim collected seed of Paeonia wendelboi around 1999 from The Taylish Mountains, Iran, ref 19.199.
He grew this plant, however, passed away before it flowered. Jenny Archibald gave me this plant in 2004, still unflowered.
I have nutured this plant for many years and in 2023 managed to take this Paeonia in flower to the AGS East Anglia Show.
It won the Farrer Medal, but more importantly in my mind, was awarded an RHS Award of Merit and Cultural Commendation.
Now around 24yrs old, this is a flower from this year."

Alpines / Re: List of Specialist Nurseries

The alpine nursery list does not open on my pphone. Is it for a PC only and could you convert it for phone use.
David Nicholson's list is old and has been superseded, try this page of the website: https://www.srgc.net/add-links-nurseries.asp
There are some updates need to the "new" list, with retirements, deaths not noted- I will try to update - this is a start....  * Nursery list 2024 doc.doc (146 kB - downloaded 21 times.)

General Forum / Re: Craigiehall Nursery
« Last post by FrazerHenderson on May 09, 2024, 04:20:36 PM »

I ordered some plants recently from https://www.craigiehallnursery.co.uk/ and I have to advise that that they were the best packed of any mail order nursery that I've received in recent years. Each plant pot was wrapped in copious amounts of paper held together individually by elastic bands within a sturdy box. There was no spillage or damage. The care and attention paid was exemplary. Also, the plants were sent out on a Tuesday and received the next day via Royal Mail, so no sitting around in a sorting office.  Alas, the range of alpine plants from the nursery is now restricted to the genus Sempervivums (and Jovibarba), though a wide range of species and, particularly, cultivars are offered. Anyway I was so pleased that I felt compelled to bring this small nursery to the attention of others.

Primula / Re: Primula 2024

I am vacationing around the western part of Himalayas for the last 9 days with my husband. The weather is not cooperating well. It is raining off and on. Somehow managed to go for few hikes in between. Today is one of those days. Today visited the Solang valley that is closer to Rohtang pass which is around 13f feet high. The Solang valley is around 8.5K feet high. The pass is closed because of the heavy snow fall. On the way I have seen lots of Primula denticulata. Here are some pictures
1. Western Himalaya mountain
2. Primula denticulata habitat
3. Primula denticulata plant

Always great to see plants in their wild habitat Kris!
I am sorry the weather hasn't been on your side, especially considering the long trip.

Some photos from last month:

Your Haberlea is looking very happy Rudi. I know is a tough plant but somehow I have a very small division that refuses to grow (not to mention I already lost another small plant I purchased two years ago). It is planted in the ground so this may be the problem?
I notice your plants grow among tufa blocks.
