As most of you will know the forum has always been financed by voluntary donations and we have managed to avoid forum subscriptions and the like. It's better that members donate voluntarily.
Our forum is pretty slick for such a busy site, it works quickly and efficiently with little delay or down time. This level of hosting is expensive, but very much worth it.
There is no doubt at all that it is easy to forget to donate every now and then, so, I have installed a forum “treasury” system which is pretty obvious, easy to use, and can be accessed via the “Donations” link on the menu, from the right hand side bar on the front page Portal, the button at the bottom of the page or by the donate button at the top of the page.
Have a look here: http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?action=treasury (http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?action=treasury)
The treasury sets a monthly target – currently £50 - tracks donations, updates totals etc. Current donors and targets are displayed for a 12 month period, January to December. Members can donate as much or as little as they choose, whether they want to be listed as a donor or to remain anonymous.
It's all pretty obvious.
Members will only be listed as donors if they use this system to donate. Donors will have their donations tracked and recorded in their profiles and they can read all about it there - this personal tracking does not work if anonymous donations are made. Donations made prior to the installation of this system also cannot be tracked, so if you have donated recently, don't worry about it.
This will work OK, technically I have done much testing. The rest is up to you.
Remember you do not need to have a PayPal account to donate via PayPal. You can also use credit or debit cards.
-
I would just like to thank the two forumists who made donations in the last few days, who will not be listed in this new system - but they know their support is much appreciated.
Well done to Yann for being the first donor through this new scheme. Thank you and congratulations, Yann.

Support for the new donation system is most heartening. Many thanks to all who have given. We have been delighted that some members have expressed a hope to be able to give something on a regular basis.
It's terrific that members are willing to really get behind the Forum !
For those of who who enjoy reading the forum- and the rest of the massive resources on the SRGC site, you need not feel left out - you too can make a donation of any size, to support the SRGC web presence via the Paypal Donate button at the top of each page.
It is also possible for you to send a note with any donation via that route, stating any other SRGC project you might care to support : the Exploration Fund for example. :)
-
Yes, terrific effort, many thanks to all the members in the donors list who have supported the forum financially!
This is the best plant related site bar none and you are helping to keep it that way. :)
The donations system is very easy to use, remember you don't need to have a Paypal account to donate.

The SRGC Web Team would like to send Christmas Greetings to all those generous Forum Members who have been kind enough to make a donation to the Forum - may all your brussel sprouts be delicious and may too much pudding never give you indigestion ;)

Hot on the heels of our good wishes to those who supported the forum by their donations in 2014, it is my pleasure to begin 2015 with thanks to the three "early birds" who have got the year off to such a fine start with their kind donations in the first week of the year - what a super gang you are to make the change of the year so memorable!

Thank you!

Four years on from the establishment of the Forum donations system it continues to be a useful source of income to help fund the cost of maintaining the forum and website online.
All those who take the trouble to support the forum in this way, whether openly or anonymously are greatly appreciated for their kindness and generosity. The resources provided on this website are many and various and it is cheering to see how this is appreciated by members.
Thank you all!

Another year is flying past - and it is my delight to thank all the wonderful people who have made a donation, whether through the Forum's dedicated system or the main Paypal donation route, towards the costs of keeping the Forum and Website online.
Your generous support is greatly appreciated and it is heartwarming for those of us who volunteer with the website to see the kindness shown by you all. We hope to be able to continue our "work" for you in the future!
Thank you all!

Six months on from my last post, I am pleased to be able to send thanks to all those people, whether full SRGC members or "just" ( I use this term VERY loosely!) forum members who have used either the dedicated forum member's donation system, or the general SRGC donation scheme ( both available readily via this website) to make their financial contributions to the work of the Scottish Rock Garden Club.
Your support in every possible way is very much appreciated by the Council of the SRGC and it is moving to see how many are prepared to show their appreciation in this tangible fashion.
Your notes to the Web Team of your gratitude to the work of the SRGC in spreading information on the plants to which we are so enthusiastically drawn are also gratefully received.
To you all, from wherever you are in the world, thank you!
-
The SRGC is extremely grateful to all those using the Donation buttons on the website and forum to support the work of the Club online. What kind souls you are - thank you!
Another possibility to help......
DONATIONS AND LEGACIES
The Club is recognised as a charity by HM Revenue & Customs, and so both it and
donors can benefit from a number of tax reliefs. Subscriptions and other donations
by income tax payers under Gift Aid allow us to claim back income tax paid by the
donor. In addition, such donations by higher-rate income taxpayers allow the donor
themselves to claim back higher rate income tax relief on their tax return.
Leaving a legacy to the Club in your will allows us to do things which would
otherwise be beyond our means. It is also tax-efficient and can reduce the liability
of the donor’s estate to inheritance tax. Previous gifts have helped us in many ways
over the years.
The Treasurer Richard Greenis always available to discuss possible donations, gifts
and legacies with donors or their representatives in advance. He can provide
relevant wording and more information to ensure that they are put to the very best
use. Such discussions can of course be in confidence if requested.

As this very difficult and stressful year draws to a close, it is exciting for me to be able to thank all the wonderful people who have made donations to the SRGC over the past year to support the forum and its work.
You can all be proud that you have contributed to the continuation of this massive resource, which provides so much to so many around the world. It is cheering to see the number of you who appreciate the worth of this website and forum and who are willing to be generous in your aid to keep this "on the air"! Please know that your help in so many ways is truly appreciated by the SRGC and of course, those of us beavering in the Web Team!
We couldn't achieve any of this without you, our tremendous community of plant lovers - Thank you - and may the coming year bring us all health and happiness, and beautiful flowers to make our days sing!

-
So kind - a number of you wonderful folk have already made a donation to SRGC following the Discussion Day Talks yesterday - sincere thanks to you all for your support.

I wrote this in December 2018 - it is just as true today.......
As the year draws to a close I want to send thanks to all who have kindly made a donation to the SRGC forum, to help our work online, whether made by the dedicated Forum donation route or the general donation button on the website.
Your support of the Club and help towards the costs of keeping the SRGC's website online and functioning is greatly appreciated - not least by your volunteer Web Team and SRGC members but also by the many thousands of readers who benefit from our sharing of all the valuable information held on this site and in these pages.
To every one of our supporters and readers, thank you! We are proud to work with you!
THANK YOU!!
-
Many thanks to all those who donated to the SRGC Forum in 2023 - in spite of the failure to meet our target in 2023, your support is much appreciated and we are greatly indebted to you all. Every little helps, as the well-known advert says!

The year 2024 has begun in fine form with a generous gift from a loyal American member, Jim, and we send him our warm thanks for his ongoing support over the years. THe SRGC Volunteers send our kindest wishes to all those supporting this forum in whatever way - we hope to be able to continue our work to spread knowledge and information to the world of plantlovers for many years!
Happy New Year to you all!
