In early May the Czechs held their Second International Rock Garden Conference - this proved a wonderful opportunity for a gathering of international rock gardeners from, I think, 20 countries 8)
There are reports of the conference and garden visits elsewhere in the forum ( see here :
http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=10484.0 (http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=10484.0) ) but I thought I would post "people pictures" here....

WONDERFULLY ENTERTAINING AND INFORMATIVE, MAGGI!!! Very much appreciated.

Maggi those are just the most fantastic photographs - there were so many people I couldn't put a name to. This trip will live in my memory like no other! Very many thanks again.
-
Thanks for the kind words :)
I do hope that others will contribute their "people pix" ( as well as their garden photos etc in the other thread) so that we can see the other bus groups enjoying their travels.
-
Cliff, see what you missed out on. Meeting all of us wonderful forumists, and having such a wonderful time. I do hope you are extremely jealous.
See you in NZ later in the year though.
Susan

Thanks Cliff !

Maggi, Ian and ZZ, you have done the Conference proud in this new IRG issue. I've just had a quick look and will go back to it for a new "fix" as I'm missing the wonderful time I had in the Czech Republic both at the Conference and throughout the tour. So many wonderful, kindly and generous people, such stunning countryside, gentle and very lovely, coloured tender green, golden and snowy white in early spring, in those parts we saw on tour. Such fabulous gardens and amazing plants, everything it seemed, grown to perfection for the occasion.
All of which makes it especially poignant on today's news that the Czech Republic and other parts of central Europe are experiencing heavy rain and flooding, Czech soldiers tasked with protecting the centre of Prague and its historic heritage from the worst devastation. Many areas and their people are evacuated as the rain continues. I feel deeply for them all and can do nothing to help except say that we are all, I'm sure, thinking of our friends and wishing and hoping the spring will reassert itself very soon and their lives can return to normal, their beautiful country survive and flourish again.
-
Lesley, I join with you in wishing our friends in Central Europe well at this time of flooding and landslides. The damage being done and tragic loss of life is horrible to contemplate.
