It depends on how quickly they are going to grow, and how big a light you have.
I only sow slow growers now. At the moment, I have seedlings of six species
of South African Erica under lights. They have been growing for over a month
and are still the size of a pin head. I will be able to grow them all winter and
they will still fit under my light.
