UK Tulip Championship Show 2012

The Tulip Championship of Great Britain Show 2012 was held at the Harrogate Spring Show 26-29 April.

The results:

Class 1 (3 vases x 9 tulips, 3 different varieties,one variety in each vase(3)):
1st Morris Robinson - Moon Walker; World's Favourite; World Peace
2nd Pat King - Salmon Impression; Ad Rem; Banja Luka
3rd Wendy Akers - Honeymoon; Ad Rem; Aria Card

Class 2 (9 tulips one variety(8))
1st R Taylor - Big Smile
2nd Pat King - Hakuun
3rd Michael King - Salmon Impression

Class 3 ( 3 Lily Tulips(7))
1st J&J Gibson - unknown
2nd Ian Chapman - Red Shine
3rd Teresa Clements - C'est Chic

Class 4 (3 Parrot Tulips(4))
1st J&J Gibson - Bright Parrot
2nd Teresa Clements - Salmon Parrot
3rd Jenny Orrell - Flaming Parrot

Class 5 (3 Double Tulips(5))
1st Barbara Pickering - unknown
2nd Barbara Pickering - Double Maureen
3rd Wendy Akers - Uncle Tom

Class 6 (3 Fringed Tulips)
1st J&J Gibson - Curly Sue
2nd Jenny Orrell- Davenport

Class 7 (3 Yellow(7))
1st R Taylor - Big Smile

Class 8 (3 White Tulips)
1st J&J Gibson - Angel's Wish
2nd Pat King - Hakuun

Class 9 (3 Pink or RedTulips(17))
1st Barbara Pickering - Tambour Maitre
2nd Jean Higginson - Red Impression
3rd Linda Chapman - Ile de France

Class 10 ( 3 any other colour - forgot to take details! - and this was a huge class)

Class 11 (5 Kaufmanniana, Greigii or Fosteriana(13))
1st J&J Gibson - Toyota
2nd Teresa Clements - Havran
3rd Jyll Thomson - Dreaming Maid

Class 12 (3 multi-headed - no entries)

Class 13 (3 any colour - restricted: those not having won 1st prize previously(12))
1st J&J Gibson - Gavota
2nd Jean Wyatt - Francoise
3rd Jean Higginson - Big Chief

Class 14 (3 flowers of one species or miniature tulip(7))
1st Jenny Orrell - T. whittallii
2nd Harold Brooke - 'Tiara'
3rd Teresa Clements - T. clausiana 'Peppermint Stick'

Class 15 (5 as above (7))
1st Harold Brooke - 'Tinka'
2nd Barbara Pickering - T. whittallii
3rd Wendy Akers - T. chrysanthe

Class 16 (pan of species or miniature(8))
1st Terry Mitchell - T. batalinnii 'Bronze Charm'

Oh my! From the general shots we can see just what a range of flower sizes the varieties are.While admiring the close-ups it's hard to tell the scale. Great selection .

We were most impressed when we went a couple of years ago, and I loved 'World's Favourite' then, a stonking great tulip!
