Stirling show in Kincardine

Congratulations   to Sam Sutherland and his team for a very enjoyable  day. A few snaps to start  - the winning  3 plant group from Cyril -the Trillium gained the Forrest and Primula Broadwell Milkmaid awards for best primula and best European plant.  Certificates of merit went to  Bill Robinson's  Narcissus bulbocodium and the show secretary's Iris. Two other nice plants were  the Bainbridges'  Narcissus watieri  Abaleish and Jean Wylie's Shortia named for Brian Wilson.

Glad you enjoyed the day Stan.... I was hoping your camera was with you!

Some great plants there already....this looks like an excellent beginning to this show in a new venue.

Sam will be happier now it is over - show secretaries always are more rlaxed and relieved when their show is done.... it gives the longest posssible spell of calm before the next one needs to be organised!

The show hall looks to have good light.... that's always a plus, isn't it? Makes the photos so much nicer and helps the folks who are there all day to feel less like mole rats.

The venue was actually well-appointed: good show hall with reasonable light; roomy catering area; sufficient sales area; and adequate car-parking within close vicinity. Also handy for visiting Culross to explore its Hanseatic charms whilst awaiting results.

There was quality rather than execessive quantity, with bulbous plants and primulas to the fore.

Stan is too modest; he picked up Carnegie Dunfermline Trust Trophy (most wins Section I) and had some splendid plants on show, especially his rhododendrons.

Club President, Liz Mills took the Fife County Trophy for most wins in Section II.

My own favourite was Iris rosenbachiana shown by hard-working show secretary Sam Sutherland.

Well done Sam for puting on a good show; here's to next year!

the Inner Wheel ladies from Stirling did a sterling job providing refreshments.

the show has a section for photos and artwork. Michael Almond had an entertaining   digitally manipulated image of vine weevil. The flower is by Christine Boulby in case the card is not legible.
