I'll very likely go for the Online option, not only for cost savings, which I have to consider but space savings too. Accommodating the almost full set of SRGC and AGS material takes metres of bookshelf! An iPad would be perfect but the cost of that is too much for me now too.

Thanks, Maggi,
I'll certainly be publicizing this in our newsletter as it's a requirement of membership in our local AGS Victorian group to belong to either AGS, NARGS or SRGC as well. This will be a much cheaper option while still providing members with an excellent journal and seedex.
cheers

I suppose I can no longer complain now, with the popularity of tablets, but since I first started reading documents on a screen, maybe 25 years ago, I have always been annoyed that my screen is in landscape form but almost all documents are in portrait. Early Mac screens were often used by secretaries in portrait mode, and I know I can flip my laptop screen sideways with Ctrl Alt <- or -> but trying to use the touch pad then is weird. Even worse are two column pages and you have to go up and down in an alphabetical seed or plant list. Now some pdf readers with 2 pages to a wide screen have the font too small, like much of the sport on TV that assumes we have all got 4' wide screens and can read the text.
No doubt it will all be sorted out one day.
Good luck to the SRGC in this new venture.

Edit: It is possible to adjust the page/text  layout/size for  reading pdfs  onscreen.

Some notes about SRGC Membership:

The SRGC is based in Scotland but has an international membership and offers much of interest to all gardeners and, of course, horticultural students -

It is written for both expert and beginner.

I, too, live in the South of England  (Berkshire) but have found membership of the SRGC a great benefit. As someone relatively new to alpines and the like, I have a lot to learn. So far, Ian Young's Bulb Log has helped enormously, the Forum too has helped (I've just found out the correct time to collect and sow Galanthus seed), and I use the seed exchange. Plus, of course, I get the journals. By to-day's standards, I reckon that's good value for money.
Finally, I have made a couple of donations to the maintenance of the Bulb Log, made easier as I live in the UK and have a Paypal account. I've found having a Paypal account very useful for many things and you can arrange to keep it solvent by making transfers from your own main banking account.

Where there's a will, there's a way.

The year is almost three-quarters over and donations to the SRGC Forum stand at 77%.  It's getting close, so time to put that donation sitting in the "to do" section of your mind into action!

Simple as can be with PayPal.

Maggi, Decided it was time to post something under this topic to get members to think about donating or joining in 2018.  I have joined and donated before but not consistently because I forget to renew.  The three-year overseas option is perfect for me---nothing to do again until 2021!!!  I also like to get the magazine in hard copy so I can save it for reference.  More recently I have participated in a snowdrop Facebook group, and I have really appreciated what you are always telling us---SRGC can be searched, it's a great reference source.  I get very frustrated when I know something I need to know has been mentioned on Facebook and then it disappears forever.  Thank you for all the hard work you do to support galanthus lovers everywhere, Carolyn

I absolutely agree with Carolyn's post. I find the information and enthusiasm brilliant. I check almost every day and learn something new. I must make the effort to contribute but love being part of the snowdrop community.

SRGC is most grateful to all members and supporters who are kind enough to donate to help the  Club maintain its pre-eminent position  on the internet - apart from everything else, it helps the Treasurer  keep up a smile!

I would not mind giving a donation towards running costs but as a victim of a recent scam I will not do any business using a computer. Despite claims that the sites are secure there are always people who can get round any security systems.

Sorry to hear that. Should we be on the lookout for this scam?
