Broadleigh Gardens have been selling G. ikariae E.K. Balls Form for many years, which they describe as

GALANTHUS IKARIAE ’E K BALLS’ - The wide green leaves are held almost flat. Distinctive but it can be shy to flower. A perfect miniature.Few. Height: 4" Price: £8.00

Thanks for the link. My plant doesnt have dark green leaves typical of woronowii. The mark is small. I'll post a photo soon.

Thanks for posting the photos - it looks like Broadleigh Gardens have mis-named it - where did you get yours from?

Chris I stopped keeping notes years ago. I used to not where I got bulbs from, how many bulbs, how many flowers in year 1, 2, 3 and deaths.

Unfortunately I dont know where I got my bulbs but it must have been from the Gala.

Joe Sharman told me last year the name should be woronowii coll. E. K. Balls

I grow it. As a woronowii. It is pretty - nearly as pretty as wor. "Cider with Rosie".

Chris, I'll ask who they got it from and if they know anything else about it. As Joe says (via Mark) I think it was always sold and passed around as coll. E.K. Balls, as in collected by him rather than named for him. My mother used to refer to it as a great foliage ground cover.

Of course originally it was G. ikariae latifolius coll. E.K. Balls. There's a brief mention of it (or perhaps them - sounds like there was more than one collection and introduction) on page 52 of Stern's Snowdrops and Snowflakes.
