pruning rhododendron fragrantissimum

hi folks .ive been asked to help look after a victorian greenhouse they have lots of very lanky rhodo fragrantissimum.can they be pruned back fairly hard and should i wait for them to flower in the spring??

I'd say they'd be fine cut back hard after flowering in the spring, but there are much more experienced rhodo experts on here who I'm sure will correct me if I'm wrong. There was a recent discussion about cutting rhodos back hard here: http://www.srgc.org.uk/forum/index.php?topic=7407.0
