Crinum x powellii ???
« on: July 15, 2011, 09:25:33 PM »
Bought this one as Crinum x powellii 'Album', which it clearly is not!

Could anyone tell me if this is Crinum x powellii 'Roseum' or another species or hybrid?
I bought this one together with Crinum 'Ellen Bosanquet, so maybe the labels got mixed up? Could it be 'Ellen Bosanquet'?

I think that's standard Crinum x powellii, 'Ellen Bosanquet' is a deeper pink & is not really hardy in UK (unlike C. x powellii which is very hardy)

Looks like a good form of X powellii 'Roseum'. 'Ellen Bosanquet" is like already said a deep intense uniform color.

I tried to grow the standard form in Dunblane. Every year the flowers would be just about opening in November, when the first heavy frost would cut it down. It would only flower in July if I grew it in the greenhouse.
