Which Crinum is this?
« on: May 03, 2011, 10:24:05 PM »
In the building where the Weekly Lisse Flowershow is , we saw this enormous plant which probably is a Crinum.
We would like to know if this is so and which species?
Luit van Delft, right in the heart of the beautiful flowerbulb district, Noordwijkerhout, Holland.

Sadly Luit died on 14th October 2016 - happily we can still enjoy his posts to the Forum

My guess is Crinum asiaticum, maybe var. procerum (if that name is still valid).

Thanks Thomas, I had a look at a special Crinum site and think this will be the one. It's just that this plant has green leaves and the pictures I found were with more colored leaves?

Golly!
Never heard of that one Lesley  ::) ::)  ;)    :-X

There is a Crinum procerum form with wine colored leaves, like the best Eucomis, wonderful.

Medstd, you could be right with C. amabile.
I found a picture in The Genus Crinum (Amaryllidaceae)descriptions and photographs and there is a picture that looks like the plant I showed above.

Here is a copy of this picture
