in this days is flowering a nice plant from south Africa ( member of Colchiacae ):

Sandersonia aurantiaca

Fantastic Hans. Mine are all sleeping at present, but I look forward to their reappearance in spring. They also have the delightful habit of seeding about my nursery area and pop up in the most amazing places! It is somewhat of a pity that there's not more natural variation in the flowers, but then again, it is a wonderful plant just as it is.

I grow also Littonia modesta .....but is seems it is now ready with flowering ( I could not take any pics  :'()
but now there some fruits  :)

I have had the slid year, after bloomed the plant is dead , and the bulbs are passings???????

Alessandro,

Just checking that you're aware that Sandersonia goes into dormancy after flowering?  I'm not entirely sure whether you're referring to the Sandersonia or the Littonia though, and I can't comment on the Littonia as I have never grown it.

I do enjoy Littonia as well, and your picture is great Hans.

I find Littonia easier and faster to grow than Sandersonia, but everything here likes eating it and I can seldom keep plants alive for very long!

I agree with you - the Littonia grwos really fast -I had flowers after two years from sowing .

Hans,

So you have flowers and fruit on it at the same time?  I have it in mind as a climbing bulb/tuberous plant, so I had been assuming it was a solid flower display like so many bulbous things.... obviously it flowers for quite a long period of time?  How big are the flowers?  How big is the plant?  Always nice to see new things, Thanks!!

The Littonia has start first with flowering but it was not uble for me in this time to take pics ....
After some weeks it starts again with flowers -thats the reason why there fruits and flowers !
The Littonia and the Sandersonia are very similar in size and height -also same size of flowers .
No problem with sending you seeds ...I have enough  ;D
