Mixture in Bulbhouse pots
« on: March 25, 2009, 06:00:21 PM »
Sir I randomly looked the bulb log, and saw that all pots have little rocks in it. Does it contain any other things? What is the mixture you use?
Thanks.

Hello, Ardan. The bulbs in the pots are grown in a mixture of soil, sand and gravel ( small stones 2mm to 6mm) and all pots are given a topping of 2 to 3 cms of  larger gravel ( the little rocks you see on the surface)

See these logs to find more about compost for growing in pots....
Log 26 of 2007      http://www.srgc.org.uk/bulblog/log2007/260607/log.html        ..... for potted bulbs etc
 Log 49 of 2006      http://www.srgc.org.uk/bulblog/log2006/061206/log.html         .... for seed growing
Log  4  of 2005      http://www.srgc.org.uk/bulblog/log2005/260105/log.html       .... for potting using  recycled bulb compost.

Hope this helps!  :D
