Visit the Saxifrage Society Website  http://www.saxifraga.org/default.asp
and click on 'Plants' it gives a guide to the genus. Better still, join The Saxifrage Society!

Mark,

Encrusted saxifrages are handsome plants forming spreading cushion of lime-encrusted rosettes.
Saxifraga x engleri and S. Southside Seedling are encrusted saxifrages.

The Porphyrion saxifrages or Kabschias form small cushions of quite hard-leaved rosettes with flowers on stems up to only a few centimetres tall.
Saxifraga Your Success, iranica, scardica etc. are Porphyrion saxifrages.

Further... Porophyllum is a subsection under Saxifraga Section Porphyrion... though the subsection and term have been embraced and discarded and renewed a few times, seemingly!   According to McGregor (who differs from Harding's analysis), Subsection Porophyllum includes Kabschia, Engleria and Tetrameridium.  

The encrusted or "silver" saxifrages are in Section Legulatae, in which there are 8 species.

The pots were in the propagation area, Lesley, but there were plants for sale too.
I took the photograph simply because pattern looked nice.
