Would that be the Monksilver list, Mark? I know that Joe wanted to send it out last weekend but the cold weather has put him back a few days. Most of his pots have been frozen solid making stock checking impossible. Hopefully they have all thawed out nicely and the list should be complete.

I assume we are talking about Joe Sharman's list then, Mark, although you don't actually say.

I ordered from him last year but don't know if that means I automatically get a list this year. If anyone gets his list by email perhaps they could post it here for everyone to see as happened last year?

Joe is having problems with the internet. I asked him about an email copy.

It would be better if a copy of the list, or  any list, could be passed around by email rather than posting all the names and prices on the Forum, please  :)

Okay. Sorry, Maggi. It happened last year, so I didn't think.

Hi Maggi
I don't have a problem with this advice but to educate us all could you explain why Route 1 should be avoided? Is this another beartrap like picture copyright? Thanks.

It is true that last year a copy of the monksilver list was posted in the forum. On reflection, it has been decided that this isn't really fair to others whose lists are not posted. We are not about to allow everyone's lists to be posted ...we are very liberal in allowing the publication of webaddresses etc and in helping to pass around lists to help forumists, but to go so far as to post whole lists, prices etc is a step too far.... we are not going to provide that degree of free advertising. There are opportunities for business to apply for links with this site, or for forumists to suggest links, either informally in threads or formally through the "submit" function of the Forum links pages, also for nurseries to apply for an advert to run in the banner section at the top right of forum pages.

As to Steve's comment about "the bear trap of picture copyright" ... I hardly know where to start nor am I sure what relevance this has here, but I will take the time to answer this point.
I would have thought that most people would be aware that once anything is published on the internet, it is uncommonly difficult to retain full control of the copyright. Most folks, know this, and accept it since they are getting a platform for their work.
When applications are made to the SRGC for use of a photograph,  we contact the photogrpaher andseek their opinion/permission and any conditions they may have about use.
There is little we, or anyone else, can do, regardless of any desire we might have that this were otherwise, to prevent unauthorised or underhanded use of images.

Maggi

That's clear and helpful. I wondered if the lists posting issue had a legal side like picture copyright, but I understand that its around the free advertising issue and being fair to all listers and that seems reasonable and straightforward.

I have copied Monksilvers list to my hard drive if any one did not get a copy.

I still do not have a snowdrop here which has decided to open yet, some have been showing white for over five weeks, frustrating.

I would appreciate a copy John if that is possible. I ordered from Joe Sharman last year but have not had a list yet but maybe I should have requested one.
Thank you - Anna.

I just wonder - with all this announcing of snowdrop suppliers lists arriving - are people ordering off all these lists?  Ordering the entire list? Nothing left for next year? Or is it a case that we now have a group of people who actually collect snowdrop lists?
