In this pic, Rob,  of the hamamelis, I am intrigued by the wonderful criss-cross fencing in the left background.... can you tell us anything about that, please?

The criss-cross fencing was maybe willow. It was really neatly done & went for several metres, see additional pics.

I only treated myself to half a dozen snowdrops:
