Eighth International Rock Garden Conference, 2011
« Reply #15 on: January 11, 2010, 01:34:35 PM »
Thanks for letting us know, Diane.  :D

I have merged this topic with the pre-existing one on the subject:"Alpines 2001 .....next is the 2011 event "

Keep a look out on the AGS site for booking details because I have no idea when this information will be released to the SRGC.
I am told there will be an "early bird" booking discount and I will let you know as soon as I hear anything.  ::)

Luc, there are details about the venue earlier in this thread.

Martin...... I do hope you mean 11th January ....2010??!! Which would be... TODAY, would it not? Isn't January 2011 a bit LATE??

So much of the AGS site is only accessible by Members, I  hope thought has been given to those wishing to attend from other Clubs who are not AGS members? :-\

I've just taken a look at the AGS Web Site and can't find any mention of the Event at all. Having said that the AGS office was closed last week because of the weather so maybe they have catching up to do. The Newsletter enclosed with the latest copy of The Alpine Gardener (received today) gives the Provisional Programme "together with costs"-no costs are mentioned, and indicates that a booking form was in the Newsletter-it wasn't! The Programme also says "full details of costs together with a booking form are printed on the back page of this Newsletter"-it wasn't!!

Had hoped to go to that one but that would be $2000 for the two of us! Plus almost the same for the flights. Accomodations-meals included?

Gads I thought the American ones were expensive.

Sounds like we'll stay put.

Just checked back to see where exactly on the site it was, David, and found a new link added to the foot of the page Diane linked to earlier.... added later, it seems.... links to this page for online booking: http://www.alpinegardensociety.net/sales/conferences/bookings/2011/

I know some Aussies and Dave Toole are going but not me I'm afraid. 500 GB pounds is about $1,300 NZ dollars at present plus twice that for return flights and that's just for 4 days. From this far away one would want to stay in the UK and hopefully in Europe too for about 4-6 weeks to make the costs worthwhile, so a massive total altogether. Looks like my NH travel days are well and truly over. :'(

There seems to be rather a lot of information incomplete on the ordering system options. Dear me!

Confusing too Maggi as in the link you gave immediately above, the discount booking must be paid in full by AUGUST 2011! (2nd para, after headlines).

Yes, Lesley, that seems to be the case: but I hope the form is simply badly written!

It is certainly not very clear.... but there seems not to be an option to pay a deposit for the Early Bird discount rate so I think they do want to get all our money as soon as possible  :P

No word either of cancellation rates, which is worrying. Quite a lot of info that I think folks would want to have not included.  :(

edt: ... try checking back  with the AGS website for changes to details as they become available
