There were some postings a while back about Primula subgenus Sphondylia.
Here are 2 in flower today:
Primula verticillata
Primula edelbergii
They both smell very nice.

Would northern Primula growers please look in "October 2008 in the Southern Hemisphere" please, and tell me whatever they can about a primula for which I want identification. I could say it all again here but I can't be bothered. Thanks.

Here's a pic taken today of one of my little Primula pubescens seedlings (seedling 2 for my records). The only problem is that I forgot to record which of my pubescens I collected the seed from. It looks a pretty little plant but I don't know if this flush of flowers is just an 'Autumn flush' or whether it's going to be an early flowerer. Time will tell!

David, looking at your wellgrown Primula remembers me of your problems with soil/fertilizer.
Can you tell us what you did and if you are more satified now??

Luit, I think what you are referring to was my over-use of dolomite lime in my compost mix when I re-potted in 2007 causing very light green leaf growth last year. This year I used much less. So far the plants are looking quite good but the proof of the pudding will be in the eating as the saying goes (when they flower!!)

Due to the very warm weather some Primulas have started to flower.
Here is one of my own hybrids (villosa/hirsuta) which is flowering today.
