My daughter who lives near the New Forest has posted this photo to me for identification. Is it edible?

Hi Pat, I'm assuming this is the New Forest in England and not a different New Forest in Oz!  ;D

Anyway, it doesn't look like any edible species that I know. As it's better to be safe than sorry with fungi, I recommend she doesn't try eating it. Lovely thing though!

Looks to me as if it could be what is commonly called ‘chicken in the woods’.  I am not sure if it is edible.

It looks like sulphur polypore, said to be edible when young and fresh.
