With the  Corona Virus pandemic causing  events  to  be  cancelled  or  postponed  across  the  world, we  must  expect  that  news  of  which events  will remain on the  calendar  to take  place  to change  rapidly
We  will advise  in a special thread  of  changes  to SRGC events, as  decided  either  by  government  or  SRGC decision.

Please  see  this  thread for  all details  of  SRGC event cancellations :

Germ warfare? I don,t watch the news and havn,t done for years. It,s always bad news. I,ve just heard that people over 70 will have to stay in the house. How do we get food? Is it OK for people over 70 to die of starvation. Keep calm and carry on.

I hope  it  is  not "germ warfare"!  It  is  certainly  something  which can prove fatal to anyone  frail and with underlying health issues - and  of  course, as  yet  there  is  no vaccine  so a great  many  people are  at  risk.  Even those  with no symptoms can pass the  virus   hence the  requests to reduce  exposure  in crowded areas etc for  all.

Advice  from Health Minister  today is  that soon people  over  70 will be  asked to keep "socially distant"  as  much as  possible  to  minimise  risks to elderly.  Scottish Govmt are  saying  something  slightly  different  but  it  will all come  down to just  about  everyone  being  advised to avoid  crowded  places  as much as  possible.  I doubt  anyone  will be  forced to stay  at  home, unless  they are  actively  infectious.

Having been through it in China, only to see the exact same thing now happening in Italy, and expecting the horror show to continue in Norway in a week or two, I wouldn't take too lightly on this... Please do whatever you can to slow the spread!

This note is  from the Grampian and  Tayside  Hardy  Plant  Society:

As a result of the current Coronavirus situation in the UK, our Spring Lecture planned for Saturday 28th March 2020 has been cancelled. The situation is changing very rapidly and we must all do everything we can to minimise risk. I hope we will be able to hear Kate White talk to us on the subject of the Japanese Garden at Cowden at some point in the
future.

Plant Sale – Saturday 25th April 2020 at The Guide
Hall, Myre Car Park, Forfar

Under normal circumstances, I would be writing to you now to
recruit your help for our annual Plant Sale. Regretfully, in the
cirumcumstances, we will not be holding our Plant Sale this year.

As the weather improves, there has never been a better time
for us to enjoy our own gardens.

With best wishes
Alison Hogg

Just seen that ALL the AGS shows have been postponed until further notice. The AGS are also recommending that Local Groups do not hold meetings for the interim.

Friends in NRV - our Dutch sister  organisation have  cancelled  their  event  on 18th April

"The BTU Utrecht and the University of Utrecht are closed until Saturday 6 April and the expectation is that the  closure  will continue . In consultation with the BTU Utrecht, the NRV board decided not to let the event continue. Too bad, but getting the virus under control and staying healthy is the most important now.
We hope everyone is careful and stays healthy. Despite everything, we hope you can enjoy spring in the rock garden a little bit."

The  Czech Rock Garden Club already  cancelled  their  Spring  events.  :'(

Couldn’t put this elsewhere Maggi, but I just got word that our March meeting for. N Northumberland group is cancelled and a question mark over the April one too.  And our annual bus trip postponed until 2021 as well, that was to SW Scotland.
