"Die Berge von unten,
die Kirchen von außen
und die Wirtschaften von innen"  ;D

maybe Maggi can translate it .....

David, I would translate Hans' proverb like this:
"The mountains from below
The church from the outside
And the restaurants from the inside"

Thank you Thomas, that's not a bad philosophy for life really, all it lacks is some fine sounding word for Hans' glass of beer! ;D

Perhaps you could translate it as -

The mountains to feed the eyes,
the churches to feed the spirit,
and the restaurants to feed the tummy.  ;D

Sorry Lesley ;)

but you are wrong -this is not bavarian style

we prefer more to sit in a restaurant ( and drinking beer ) than to climb on the mountains and to go in the churches  :P

ask Otto !!!
