The Great Comp Snowdrop Sensation plant fair on Sunday 16th February 2020 is also cancelled sadly. I was looking forward to the lecture by Andy Byfield but they have just refunded my money for the ticket price.

"Due to the severe weather forecast for Sunday a decision has been taken to close the garden all day for this coming Snowdrop Sunday (16/2/20).
We plan to open the garden again once normal conditions return.
Hopefully 'Dennis the menace' will not leave a trail of destruction!"

I do feel for everyone who has had to cancel - all the preparatory work has already been done by this late stage. Hunkering down in North Yorkshire.  ::)

A shame! We could have gone to the one near Kent!

Anybody can tell me the difference between Melanie Broughton and Merlin please? Thank you in advance.

'Melanie  Broughton' is  said to be  a  nivalis  hybrid while  'Merlin' is  an elwesii x plicatus - so you should  see  some  differences  in the  leaves.   Merlin's inner green mark is  sort  of  shield bug shaped and covers  the  whole  inner  while  Melanie's  mark stops  short of the  top of the  segment.

The Alpine Garden Society's Mid-Anglia Bulb Sale  is  one  where  galanthophiles  tend  to gather  each year- sadly the  decision was  taken to abandon the  event  this  year   - " because of the repercussions of the ongoing COVID-19 restrictions for outdoor events. "

Hardly surprising- most  wanting  to attend would be  unable  so to do even if the  venue  could  be  open.
