SRGC Annual General Meeting  9th November 2019

AUTUMN FESTIVAL AND SRGC ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
SATURDAY 9 NOVEMBER 2019

Location: Burnside Hall (Old Scone Church Hall), Burnside, Scone, PH2 6LP.
Note that this is NOT the hall we have used for the last two years, but the one that we used before that. Directions: take the A94 Perth/Coupar Angus road from Perth. The hall is near the David Douglas Memorial, which is well signposted. As you approach Scone take the first left turn into Cross Street, and then an immediate sharp left into Burnside, which takes you to the hall. There is ample parking. The number 7 bus runs from Perth to Scone.

Schedule

When you arrive – tea, coffee, and lots of wonderful cakes

11.00 Three short talks about how the club supports its charitable aims
Jens Nielsen will show highlights of his expedition to China, partly  funded by the Rock Garden Club, following in the tracks of Reginald Farrer.

Scott Cook will tell us how a grant from the Diana Aitchison fund has helped him complete a work placement at Gothenburg Botanic Gardens, Sweden. Plus show us around the garden.

Reports on the David Boyd event held in June at Lockerbie and the Inverewe Event held in September.

12.00  Coffee, tea and a glass of wine will be provided; bring the rest of your own lunch (apart from the cake).

13.00  Our Annual General Meeting. Reports of activities, presentation of awards, electing Council members.

14.00  The Clark Memorial Lecture, "Utrecht Alpine Garden’ by Gerard van Buiten. Gerard will give a talk on the general history and overview of the Rock Garden and Peat Beds, at the world-famous Utrecht Botanic Garden, Netherlands.

Some very fine  photos and art/craft work. Apologies as I didn't photo them all due to the need to eat cake . Anne Chambers won  class  4 for a painting. Michael Almond won class 3 adigitally manipulated image. Matt Topsfield won class 5 for his snowdrop sampler.

Ian Christie  won class 1 for a portrait  of an alpine with a gentian, closely followed  by Lyn Almond with a sternbergia then Mr Almond  with a corydalis. Michael won class 2 for a plant  in habitat with Dryas  the club emblem. Matt Topsfield had a seaside  shot in that class. If some pics have an odd pink bit it is a  reflection from the overhead  heaters.
