The colours of fall

The colours of fall.

The last week has been dull up here at the cabin. Fog and cool weather, except Sunday when we had a brief interlude of sun. Now, the weather doesn't mean too much as I am doing some carpentry and have little time enjoying the weather.

Lichen and alpine bearberry (Arctous alpina).

652295-1

"Blueberry" (Vaccinium myrtillus) gets rich colours in sun.

652297-2

Rowan (Sorbus aucuparia) at Svartevann ("The Black Lake").

652299-3

Musøre "mouse ear" (Salix herbacea).

652301-4

Rosebay willowherb (Chamaenerion angustifolium) or fireweed - it isn't the fall colour that has given it this name!

Dwarf birch (Betula nana) is not always showy. Reindeer moss (Cladonia stellaris) lights up as does the snow covered mountains in the horizon.

652305-1

Betula nana

652307-2

Bog bilberry (Vaccinium uliginosum) often colours nice. It isn't a bog plant though but often grows at quite dry sites.

652309-3

Salix spp, a birch (Betula pubescens var. pumila), pines and spruces at 1000m asl.

652311-4

Mixed forest. 100 years ago this region was almost treeless.

Rosa majalis. This rose goes quite high in the mountains. The flowers in summer are showy also.

652317-1

Confused Antennaria dioica.

652321-2

Skålsrudvatnet "Lake Skålsrud".

652323-3

Cirsium heterophyllum, melancholy thistle, looks sad also.

652325-4

Evening.

Early morning (well, not that early - the sunrise is later and later).

652493-1

Morning dew - Avenella (Deschampsia) flexuosa.

652495-2

Mykingsjøen (Lake Myking).

652497-3
