I love these taller Ornithgalums in the garden, this one was acquired as O. ponticum ´Sochi´.

The group of Ornithogalum "umbellatum" is quite difficult to identify and the taxonomy is also confused with lots of synonyms and different interpretation of some names in different country ! Flowers are nearly the same in several species and, at least, bulbs need to be digged up to look at bulblets and scales. If you can count chromosomes, it's better  :P. If you know where they come from, it's also better.

Hi Yvain,
sadly no provenance on the ornithogalum - it came from a plant exchange but I think it's one that has been passed around among friends. This is the best flowering I've had so far  :)

It seems to make big clumps with lots of bulblets. If so, it's probably not collinum but one of the couple divergens/umbellatum. collinum as orthophyllum, kochii, bougreanum and other species/synonym makes no (or very few) bulblet and usually clump slowly with the bulb splitting.
