A bit late to remind folks but Maggi's pictures may whet your appetite.

The first exhibit to  strike the eye on entering the  hall was a very large  floral version of the North Coast 500 mounted by Mike Dale. it received a well deserved large gold medal.

The Farrer  medal was won by Bob &  Rannveig Wallis with Empodium flexile. They also  won the EB Anderson prize for 6 small pots an exhibit which included a floriferous Cyclamen maritimum -back right - which  won the Ewesley salver for best cyclamen in a 19cm pot. Bob & Rannveig also received  a merit certificate  for Galanthus peshmenii.
Ian & Maria Leslie received the Patricia Furness Vase for a well flowered  Sternbergia  and the David Boyd award for best gentian in  a 19 cm pot with one of several examples of The Caley in the show.

George Young took the award  for best foliage plant with an Ozothamnus while Ian Instone received a merit certificate for his immaculate Arenaria. David & Liz Livermore won the Inner Eye for the Intermediate section as well as another  SRGC bronze medal while Maggie Duguid won  the Newcastle  Bowl for Section C and the Newcastle Trophy for her Saxifraga Fumiko.  By bringing   rather a  lot of foliage plants and a few gentians your correspondent won the Ponteland  Bowl for most first points.

Some general views. I'm told there were 272 entries totalling 395 plants from 37 exhibitors in  the Open section

round the benches with a failing camera battery-its a nice old hall but the natural light is not great, artificial lights are on  and colours can be different to daylight.
