The first Snowdrop- and springflower- Exposition in East Germany starts in the Weekend  9. and 10. march 2019 in Torgau/Elbe.
The socciety for supporting the 9. Saxonia Garden-Show LAGA 2022 in Torgau/Elbe (April till october 2022) starts with his work and one of the Projects is the Organisation of a pre-opening Weekend in march 2022 only for springflowers - SNOWDROPS, crocus, leucojum, winteraconites, chionodoxa and others! This will be first time for German Garden Shows!
In this weekend we invite to visit the natural flowering places of springflowers in and around Torgau and we organisate in saturday and sunday a "Springflower-Exposition" with flowering exemplars of professionell nurseries and hobby-gardeners! With the Exposition we start already in 9. and 10. march 2019 and plan, to organize this Exposition yearly again!
We have a fine location for this yearly exposition: the historic "Proviant Magazin" of Torgau, where we have enough place for the exposition, places for flowerplant-sellers, for cars, pubs for eating and drinking and all in the city of the wonderful renaissance-town Torgau
We invite nurseries and hobby-gardeners to take part in this Exposition with flowering Exemplars and also sellers of springflower-plants!
Please contact our Organisation Group under the email-adress: harald.alex@gmail.com.

Anne Repnow will be giving a talk at this event.

The Hardy Plant Society have now sent details of their "Galanthus Group AGM and Study Day".  This will be held on Sunday 10th February in Langport, Somerset so will be convenient for anyone who has attended the Shaftesbury event on the previous day.  Speakers will be Alan Street  and Michael Dreisvogt.  In the afternoon there is a visit to Avon Bulbs and in order to get there you will visit the car park of East Lambrook Manor so there should be time to look round the garden that belonged to Margery Fish.
Almost in Scotland.

You can now book tickets for the Shaftesbury Snowdrop Study, Sale and Social Day on Saturday 9th February.  There are 72 tickets remaining at the time of posting which might suggest they are selling quite rapidly.

This talk, on 12th January, is possibly the earliest snowdrop event of 2019.  Michael Myers is a well-known snowdrop expert; one of his claims to fame is the discovery of the exquisite poculiform snowdrop Galanthus 'E A Bowles'.

I visited the snowdrop event at the Kalmthout Arboretum a few years ago, staying in Antwerp and travelling there by train.  I had a good time there, despite not speaking the language, but if you want to look around the grounds and see the Hamamelis you may need wellington boots or similar; it was pretty wet underfoot when I was there.
