Scilla puzzle
« on: April 01, 2018, 08:44:05 PM »
I have a large patch of Scilla sibirica flowering now. Really nice and self sowing all over the place. However there is a small puzzle. One or two of the bulbs have pale blue flowers with a dark blue median stripe. Very pretty. I think I posted an image some time back. The puzzle is that I dug up one of these different types and potted it up. The original bulb has retained that flower variation, but the offsets are standard blue. They are off sets, not seed grown as they are definitely attached to the original bulb. Thoughts, ye bulbous gurus!

I had such special ones last year too. The difference to the "normal" coloured was, that they didn't make seeds.
