Galanthus from Armenia

I found wild Galanthus in East Armenia. Can anyone tell what species?

G. artjuschenkoae
G. alpinus
G. kemulariae

It is usually helpful to view the markings on the inner petals when trying to identify a snowdrop.  On a cold day you may need to assist the flower to open wide enough for the inner petals to be visible.  Do you have any more photographs that show the inners?

Alan_b: I have only few more pictures of the plants and there are no which show the inner petals... I didn't know that I have to take pictures of them. For me most of the Galathus look similar and there are not much different between them. It's good that I know that I have to take photos of the inner petals to identify the species. I will try to find more Galathus during my biking trip and next time I will take better photos...

How much are there in the Ukraine?

In Ukraine there are 4 species - nivalis, plicatus, elwesii and graecus. The last one is very rare in Odessa region.

One of my best friends goes very often to the Ukraine, now i can ask him what to look for.
Do you grow, or know someone who has the graecus?

I don't grow graecus and don't know anyone who grows it in Ukraine, even in our botanical gardens you can't find this species, but I have exact habitats of it in one botanical book issued in 2007 in Ukraine where graecus mentionned in 2-3 localities in Odessa region.

Is graecus recognised as a separate specie.  When I googled it, there was a suggestion that it could be gracilis or a ssp of elwesii.  I did notice that the tip markings were different from both elwesii and gracilis.

Exactly! Now graecus considers as gracilis, but our bitanist use very often old botanical taxons

I had the same thing Arthur, in the "book" it says also that they use the name gracilis instead of graecus.

These are wonderfull pictures you took on your travels. This snowdrop is G artuschenkoae as the leaf is applanate and not convolute. G transcaucasicus has got convolute leaves. It looks exactly like the plant collected in Armenia. This was indentified as Galanthus artuschenkoae

The yellow one looks rather fun as well!
