Iris Id, please
« on: August 14, 2016, 09:48:36 PM »
Several years after sowing this Iris flowered for the first time in May for me.
The resulting seed pod looks quite interesting, maybe somebody can help
me with a name. Sorry for the lost label.

Looks like I. lactea to me. I have several pods on mine and they
almost always hang down.

Definitely Iris lactea and the pod will have masses of seed. The seed pods can be a bit hard to open. Seed pods are readily formed and usually upright for me.

Pat, thank you for your reply. You are right, the seeds sit rather tight in
the seed pods, like these of Iris songarica.
I made a mistake when I planted my Iris lactea on top of a dry wall, this is maybe
the reason for the hanging seedpods.
