Bessera elegans purple form from seed
« on: July 30, 2016, 02:10:02 PM »
Hi all ,

before some years I have bought a single bulb from Bessera elegans purple form from a seller from USA
This plant has flowered for me - please look here :
 http://www.srgc.net/forum/index.php?topic=9306.0

I have pollineted this flower ( selfed ) and in spring 2013 I have sown some few seeds ...some times later this bulb is died  :'(
The Germination was OK and now I have first flowers ...to my big surprise they are colored like the mother plant = purple  ;D

This means ( for me ) this plants are self fertil and it is possibly to transfer the color via seeds ...which is a really nice surprise
I have 3 or 4 plants and now I wait for the next flowers ...

Has anyone made similar expieriences ?

I have no experience , Hans - you  and Rimmer are the only persons I know growing this beauty. Good news that the colour passes to the seedlings.
