Mark, I Sow them deep at the end of August, water them with the rest of the bulbs at the beginning of September. I keep them under cold glass and get germination the following spring.

I got 11 seed off mine last year and planted them around the mother bulbs
in August or September and I have 2 seedlings up now.  This is outside in the ground zone 6.

The comments above regarding 'Tecos' reminded me to show a recent repotting ,after their summer rest, of various Tecophilaea .
Been a good increase since last season ......

Cheers Dave.

Nothoscordum gracile var. macrostemon from Vickery seed sown 2012. PBS says that N. gracile is an invasive thug but suggests that this variety is better behaved. I will keep mine trapped in a pot and watch any seed capsules very carefully. I notice some daughters sprouting round the bottom already.

This is Tristagma nivale ex AGS seed - sown February 2011 - a South American counterpart of Narcissus viridiflorus.
Due to its inconspicuous green flowers which became heavily scented at dusk I suspect that it has the same adaption as the
daffodil and is pollinated by small moths at nighttime.

thanks for the tip Ian re the tecophilaea seed - looks like for some reason there is going to be no seed set this year - I usually get loads - maybe it was too cold.

I think we originally got this as Ipheion hirtellum but was then told that it was actually Ipheion sellowianum, then Nothoscordum felipponei, which The Plant List says is a synonym for "Tristagma sellowianum (Kunth) Traub." - I seem to remember having this discussion each year!
Whichever genus it belongs to now it is a bright golden autumnal bloom which smells strongly of garlic!
cheers
