Mrs McNamara, a new purchase this year is almost in flower.
Galanthus corcyrensis ( reginae-olgae vernalis) is later than usual.  It can start flowering any time from November to February but I would have expected it to be early this year.
Biggest surprise is Galanthus platyphyllus.  It does not usually appear till March and is the last snowdrop to flower in my garden
Roma Fiddes, near Aberdeen in north East Scotland.

My AT tells me that the Avon Bulbs catalogue will be out in the second week of January!  ;D

The usual must have item with coffee and a pile of biscuits  ;D

Topically, 'Bankside', 'Simply Glowing' and 'Phantom' (all Alan Street specials) have broken through here this morning!

Photo of 'Simply Glowing' earlier this year. The photo does not do justice to how glowing this variety is, it is really very striking!

A few ships have crossed the North Sea from England to Denmark.......

It is a strange season in Denmark too.
Reginae Olgae (not vernalis) and cilicicus is still flowering, but peshmenii is over.
3 weeks ago Hollis was in full flower, and now Peter Gatehouse and Barnes is opening.

A windowsill posy of G. 'Barnes', 'Castlegar' and 'Faringdon Double'

Thank you Paddy for this picture. It is so good to see snowdrops together, it shows the differences in the flower size well. :)

Here all the early snowdrops you have already flowering (Barnes, Mrs Macnamara and such) are only peaking from the ground even though it's been a warm autumn considering our normal weather. Cambridge and Tilebarn Jamie have still not yet opened properly (not enough sun).

A few lovely snowdrops I have in flower at the moment.
First 2 pictures are some Elw seedlings.
First one is very similar to Bumble Green
Second one has nice green markings on the shoulders
Third picture is Frank Lebsa

"Galanthus elwesii - Martyn Rix very kindly gave us stock of this fabulous autumn-flowering one from south of Gulnar."

Did anyone buy this from Rannveig Wallis? I did. Its flowering now in its first year with me. Cute at only 7cm high

The warm weather is also favouring the slugs which have eaten all the flowers from my clump of Three Ships while we were away. I guess they thought it would be appropriate for Christmas dinner!
