Lilium nanum germinating now :-(
« on: October 18, 2015, 02:48:27 PM »
I got the seeds last fall. Pot, refrigerator .... Throughout the year, nothing happened.
Now I wanted to, because we had a few days before the first snow, rearrange the pots in the cold frame.
And I've seen that lot of Lilium nanum, are now germinate. In a few weeks we have probably snow may remain until March.
What should I do with them do now?
stay outside? wet? dry?
thx
Bernd

Not too wet and, if you can, keep them frost free, Bernd

What could be the reasons for the late germs?  ???
How can I prevent something in the future?

Did you have the in the fridge in the spring? Lilium nanum need +10c to germinate. I sow lily seed from this area in Feb and they germinate when the temperature warms up. Bottom heat also helps. As Maggie says they will be susceptible to frost for the first winter. One problem is that Lilium nanum can start germinating in the pod.

OK thanks ! I think it was too warm even when I brought them out of the refrigerator.
After all, they are now growing well and I will, slightly damp, hibernate with my Mediterranean orchids together.
