Narcissus in August 2015
« on: August 02, 2015, 10:51:29 AM »
This is yet another of Rod Barwick's hoops, Narcissus 'Ianmon', and close by is what appears to be a self-sown seedling which is quite different with a wide corona, if it's a seedling of 'Ianmon', perhaps I could call it"Maggihen"? ;D
cheers

"quine" is the Doric equivalent, fermi - I'll need to get you a Doric dictionary so you're up to speed!

I mentioned this tiny before, Narc. bulbocodium nivalis, seed from Rafa I think, by way of Fermi. It is a lot shorter (though the flower is bigger) and a lot earlier than my other nivalis. Stems are just 2cms, same as the top of the label. Another for a trough. :)

That's a sweet one, Lesley.

I think that plants grown under the name N.b. nivalis have been split off into two different taxa (N.b.nivalis and N. jeanmonodii), which well be might be justified based on geography (one grows in Iberia the other Morocco) and the observed differences. I'm accruing more forms of nivalis/jeanmonodii to be able to make a reasonable comparison.

Another tiny open this morning, labelled as Narc cf bulbocodium Rafa/Anthony. It seems to be N. b. nivalis. Pic when a couple more are out.

This opened to day. It came from Rafa and is labelled Narcissus blancoi (thinks to myself, why is the italics button not working? What has Windows 10 done?), but it is very white.
