Cyrtanthus Elatus formally Vallota Speciosa in flower here and looking great. I have had the bulb about two years and my patience has paid off, it has become very pot bound which it apparently likes.

That's splendid, John.

What size and type of pot do you grow it in and where do you keep it?

Hi Chris it's just a normal bog standard black plastic pot, which has now started to go out of shape due to the amount of offsets my single bulb has produced. Until it started to flower I kept in my greenhouse, in a sunny position and kept it well watered and fed during the growing season. It is now in pride of place in the kitchen windowsill where we can all admire it.

No, John, I'm starting up here almost from scratch. I'm very attracted to the South African species but probably not the best group to source given our short summers, but that's gardeners for you.  ::)

Ok chris, if you want when the plants die down I can split a couple of offsets off and send them to you. You can give them a try see what happens.
