What John did not say, was that the snowdrops, picked to allow wheelchair visitors a good sighting of the treasures throughout the garden, were taken from huge clumps of every one.

This was one of several clumps of Diggory

Wol & Sue Staines whose garden it is, have always been reluctant to sell any of their snowdrops.  This year they were persuaded to sell off some spares.  Diggory was available for £25 - I understand that this is quite a good price (not yet infected with the fever).

For an entrance fee of £3.50, with free tea and cakes, this was a marvellous day.  And the weather behaved.

Glen Chantry is a garden to be visited throughout the year - think Beth Chatto, but much better.

Other half - sitting, drinking tea and eating his third piece of cake!

Now there's a man after my own heart! If cake is halfway decent it takes three slices to form considered opinion. 8)

Maggi,

Are you positive that three is enough?  Sometimes for a REALLY good consideration I think that more than 3 are necessary.  I do find though that if too many are eaten in too short a time there is a considerable drop off in the opinion stakes.....  ???

Cheers.

Thanks for your main posting on Glen Chantry.

No Problem Arthur - I just need a day (or sometimes more) to write my thoughts down (and then edit them so it is not too boring for people to read) and then sort through the photos and resize them ready for the web.

I quickly posted the quiz when I got home last night as it was only 2 photos to sort out and not a lot of thought was required on my part (as I could pass the buck to maggi  ;D).

The main posting required a few hours sleep and was squeezed in before I started in the office this morning.

Glad you enjoyed it.

regards

John

In Mark's numbering of the second set, he has numbers 1 to 12... problem is there are 14 snowies to be identified .... :P ::)   More actual snowies than that, but to confuse you ( and me) some are two examples of one !!
JOHN! What have you got me into?? :P

I have marked in red the answers given so far, via Mark's numbered pix.   No time for now to check which names Martin got right yesterday  ???   I do suggest a little time spent studying the fine pictures in the Gardens Visted 2008 threads will be a great help to finding these elusive 'drops. Hint Hint!
