Narcissus May 2015
« on: May 09, 2015, 06:21:09 AM »
This pot is confusing me. It is from seed sown four years ago and is supposed to be Narcissus serotinus, but I thought, in this species, each bulb produced one leaf or one flower stalk, not several leaves. It has yet to flower.

Will check. Just realised this should have started a May Narcissus thread?

Indeed - best not treat it as the way forward though!

I grew lots of 'new to me' narcissus and daffodil bulbs over the winter in hope of having a pot suitable to enter in the Edinburgh show. Here are some which have been flowering this month, well but too late.

Fingers crossed for a  better  timed season next year, eh?  Frustrating  for you, but a grand display.

Almost last to flower (buds have still to open on the double Narcissus poeticus)

Narcissus 'Baby Moon' seedlings from Brian Duncan via Anne Wright.  They were first to show leaves (in November :o) and last to flower apart from the poeticus.  Sorry about the quality.  My camera does not seem to cope with yellow.
Narcissus poeticus ssp. recurvus
